About this page: |
Due to my background as a mechanical engineer, my approach to photography is more technical than for most other photographers. I do understand the technical aspect of how light passes through the optical system of a camera and how it is recorded by the sensor. For a short time digital photography outperforms analogue film in terms of sensitivity, dynamic range, colors and noise level. However, digital sensors, good as they are, are still rather limited. They do not see what the human eye sees. Their build-up records light in a predictable way but they do not possess the quality of perception. Using both creativity and technical understanding, I am trying to reproduce what I saw and what I felt when I released the shutter. The photographs on this webpage show a small selection of my work over the last four years. Since I am not fully satisfied with most images I captured, I am constantly trying to improve my skills and my “photographic eye” to create what some people refer to as art. ;-) Feel free to send your comments to: flx(at)gmx.ch

| My gear: |
Often times I am asked what gear I am using. Frankly speaking, I do not think that the gear is that important really. Great shots can be captured by a simple compact camera (film or digital). Anyway, I prefer digital SLR cameras for their ability to manually control all settings and their low sensor noise level. I bought a Canon second-hand SLR about 12 years ago, I am using the Canon EOS system ever since. End of last year I retired my good old 300d which never failed no matter if I was shooting in a sandy desert or at the glaciers of Iceland. Currently I am using the following equipment: Canon EOS 40d
